Question 1
“Realism is a vital component of television drama”. To what extent does an analysis of your television close-study products support this view? [25 marks]

Both capital and Deutschland have some realism in their show as capital focuses on different types of immigration with stereotypes which shows realism and Deutschland shows the two side of Germany in 1983.

capital is very good in showing different types of ethnicity in their show by the characters they choose and the scenes to show it which is done by the Zimbabwean female character who was gotten out while doing her standard employment.in addition they show how she is being forced to pay her extra money to someone in her own ethnicity and it shows how people are not being helpful to her showed by the lawyer and who she is represented that she is giving her 100% to help someone work. Additionally they also do that by showing the Asian community with their normal stereotypes of having a corner which is showed by the Kamal brothers and on them is shown to be a clever, smart person who is good in maths which is another stereotype for Asians. Furthermore capital is also seen to be showing left wing views which are shown by showing the white family play apart in creating a sense of realism within Capital as they are Upper class within the show which means they live a different lifestyle and have slight different views towards things than the migrants who came from other countries.additonally the way they show the immigrants is in very positive way that they are helpful and are not thinking all about their self which is shown by the scene of when the white women gets the grocery for free form the Kamal brothers.

On the other hand Deutschland shows realism from the two sides which are showed in Germany at the period of the time. Additionally they show the conflict between east and West Germany with a lot of differences that they have between each other. Furthermore this show is very good in showing realism as they are showing the history of the period of that time. Furthermore a scene which will be an example will be the way he was learning about different words and different things that he needs to adapt in order to live in the different side of the Germany .all of these realistic scenes make the show look real at the end and these things also help people to educate themselves about Germany and learn the history for the country. Deutschland 83 is a show which was created in Germany and was for Germany to know about their history but the way we can see the viewers from Germany is very less than other countries as German people have taken these things against them  but

However on the other hand there is drama also needed to make this shows interesting as making everything real will make these two shows very boring and not interesting. This will mean that they will not engage people to watch as to make a full drama you need to have bit of exaggeration in the story which will help the story to make drama/tension. Additionally if the story is not having suspense and drama the n there is no chance they will engage audience till the end to watch the full show. Furthermore if the dramas don’t have exaggeration and other element then they will not be interesting enough for the viewers to watch the show and get engaged to it.

In conclusion in my opinion realism is very vital in drama as if there is nothing real in the drama then the drama will not be interesting and people will not relate to the drama and it will boring for them to watch something they cannot relate to.in addition these both shows show realism that's a reason why these shows are being watched and unique in their own way to engage audiences.furthemore realism is important to the drama but other elements are also very significant because if they don’t have exaggeration and are not fast paced then they will take a lot of time to be set which will make the dramas very boring and will not engage people to watch the drama for the long time.
