film regulations and BBFC

1) Research the BBFC in more detail: what is the institution responsible for? How is it funded? What link does it have to government?

BBFC is the British board of film is an institution which gives an  age appropriation for the film, videos and webmistress institution is funded by the film industry and is linked by the government as it gives an national certificate to the films for the age restriction which follow laws by the government.

2) Read this BBFC guide to how films are rated. Summarise the process in 50 words.

The process to rate a film is done by looking at their language, physical action that takes place and the message that it has for the audience so for example a suicide movie is not for people who are below the age of 12 as it doesn't have a great message for them t.in addition the BBC have to look at everything and make notes of anything which has to do with abusive language and the content which is then judged by them at the end to give the appropriate age rating for film.

3) Read this BBFC outline of the issues faced when classifying a film. Summarise the debate in 50 words.

The issues faced classifying a film is that there are a lot of culture that can be against a particular genre or message like sex to shown in a film can be against someone's culture.furthermore there can be things which are not acceptable for a lot of public so this means they need to make sure that they are giving a certification to a movie by looking at their content, message and language.

4) Read this BBFC section on controversial decisions. Why did The Dark Knight generate a large amount of media coverage regarding its certificate? Do you agree with the 12A certificate The Dark Knight was awarded?

i don't agree with it as the movie focuses a lot on physical violence which is not appropriate for people who are the age of 12

5) What are the guidelines for a 15 certificate?

The guidelines of a 15 certificate
ate is that it should not have extreme violence and abusive language used in the film  and to make sure that sexual activity is not visible.

6) The BBFC website offers an explanation of every classification it makes and detailed case studies on selected titles. Look at the rating for Chicken and explain why it was given a 15 certificate.

chicken was given then the 15 certificate because chicken used abusive  language and had sex references which is not appropriate for audiences below the age of 15.
