he did this by asking his friends/family to invest on the film.

chicken had a very low budget compare to Hollywood funded British blockbuster.

The BFI film fund is all the money that is taken by the national lottery and is invested into films which show British culture.

chicken failed to secure funding from Bfi because bfi couldn't trust the director as he was not known and didn't have much experience.

Production

1) What difficulties did the film run into during production?

The difficulties were that the movie was shot in 19 days which were mostly done  outside so they had problems with the weather and the lightning.


2) How many days did the film take to shoot?

3) What scenes were particularly difficult for Joe Stephenson to film?

The scenes which were outside difficult to shoot because of the raining weather.

The reason why it didn't get a distribution deal is because chicken is a low budget film

arthouse films are films which are very different to other films as it is very hard to understand a art house film as the film they create has a very unique style to it and also has a message that they are trying to get across the audience.

2) What are some of the suggested audience pleasures for art house film?

audience pleasures for art house film is that they focus more on things which are scientific and intellectual.
3) Why do some audiences struggle with art house film? Refer to some media theory here (there are some important media theories discussed in the article itself).

The audiences struggle with art house films because art house films are very slow and they are not entertaining like Hollywood movies.

4) To what extent is art house film only for the middle classes and older audiences? Why might this be the case?

art house film are for middle class and older audiences because they show the British culture and these films are targeted at people who are mainly educated.

5) What type of audience would be interested in Chicken?

The audience that would be interested in chicken will be middle class people and people in  the age bracket of 30-40.

culture test is a test which is divided into 4 categories which shows that the film is produced,set and has characters which are from Britain in order for the movie to count as a British movie.

3) What is the main problem for the British film industry?

The main problem for the British film industry is that they have to sell their movie to a distribution which means they make less money out of it and cannot reinvest the income in the Britain movies.

two options

-The British filmmakers could rely on the co-production of american studios which means that there is a chance that the British cultures will not be shown.

In my opinion i believe that they should go for the second option because they should keep showing the audience the real British culture which in my opinion  is far more important than making profits from films.
